Holosun sights can be confusing. They tend to have a name harder to understand the plot of Inception. It’s in their nature to release multiple different variants of the same sight every year. They have been doing it for years and they are doing it with precision.

But it leaves us, the consumers, in a dilemma. After all, I wouldn’t want to knowingly buy an inferior variant of the same product.

That’s why, I’m here to help you solve your problem and figure out which one is the right optic for you between Holosun 507c vs 507k. Are they any different at all? Or the flip side of the same coin? Let’s find out.

Holosun 507C

The 507c was introduced alongside 407c back in 2020. Ever since then, the sight has been gaining tons of popularity and new users all the time.

It features Holosun’s solar failsafe technology and the sight itself is incredibly well-built. A chassis made out of high-quality aluminum was the right choice. To top it off, they featured a fully multi-coated lens with an illuminated reticle.

Overall, the Holosun 507c is an incredible choice for handgun users and rifle users as well.

Holosun 507K

The 507k was also introduced in 2020 alongside 407k. Unlike the 507c, this one doesn’t feature a solar failsafe. Instead, it’s a regular reflex sight with an extremely high-quality chassis and lens system.

The lens is fully multi-coated and it also features an adjustable brightness reticle. It gets extremely bright during the daytime.

Holosun 507K vs 507C – Key Differences

After knowing a little about these two sights, it’s obvious you would want to know more. More specifically, you would want to know what differentiates the two sights and why you should pick one over the other.

Design

When you look at both of these sights for the first time, they look nothing alike. The 507k has a more of a square frame with a similar style lens while the top of the 507c is arched. The arch holds the perfectly visible from afar solar failsafe mechanism.

Size

This is where you will start to see real differences between the two. Despite both being compact sights, they are not of the same size.

The 507k is 1.60 inches in length and 0.98 inches in width. The height of the sight is only 0.95 inches. You can see why it’s preferred as a pistol sight or a canted sight on rifles.

That doesn’t mean the 507c is bulky or too big. As for the 507c, its total length is 1.78 inches. It’s also 1.24 inches in width and 1.54 inches in height. Overall, it’s the bigger optic between the two. That’s why, it has more fanbase as a canted sight or main sight of an SMG over the 507k.

Weight

Now that you know that they are not the same sight nor do they share the same size chart. What about the weight? That has to be different too, right? Well, it is.

Holosun 507k weighs 1 ounce! That’s incredibly light! Then again, pistol sights need to be light. Otherwise, they wouldn’t feel right.

However, the 507c isn’t as light as the 507k. When you measure the 507c, you will get around 1.5 ounces in terms of weight. The extra length and width did result in a bit of extra weight. However, the difference is not extreme.

Still, if you want the lightest one between the two, then you would want to go for 507k.

Battery Life

Red dot sights require batteries to operate. Without batteries, the sight won’t power up nor it will show you the illuminated reticle.

That was true till Holosun said, hold my beer! They introduced a mechanism we are quite familiar with. You have seen this in watches, you have seen this in calculators, and whatnot! They installed a solar receiver on top of the sight. If your battery were to die, the solar will kick in and continue to power it on till you swap out the battery.

Technically speaking, Holosun 507c can last forever. As for the battery, it uses a CR1632 battery. Holosun claims it has a battery life of around 50k hours aka 5 years.

The same is true for 507k as well. You will use the same CR1632 battery on that unit as well. But if it were to die, you have to make sure you have a spare in your hand. Let’s be honest, 5 years is a long time.

Reticle

When it comes to reticles, Holosun always gives you multiple options to choose from. That remains true here as well. You can choose from 3 available reticles on both sights.

The available options are quite tremendous if I’m being honest! They are,

A 2 MOA red dot with a 32 MOA circle around it.
A 2 MOA red dot, nothing else.
A 32 MOA ring with no red dot in the middle.

Accuracy

They are both extremely accurate at any range you would want to use a pistol. Depending on the type of pistol or rifle you use, you can expect a similar accuracy in both of the sights. They will deliver critical viewing angles and fast target acquisition at close range.

Holosun 507C Vs 507K – Similarities

Are there any similarities between them, at all? Of course, there is. As you just saw above, both of their reticle is the same and both of them share the same battery as well.

They also share the same aluminum-made chassis. Though built differently, their chassis is equally durable and extremely rugged.
